Conception of astronomy in the art and culture at the rudolfinian period

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to summarize the important persons, places and artefacts of Rudolfians Prague that are connected to an astronomy during the reign of emperor Rudolf II. There are two ways how to look on these astronomic artefacts - as an objects of science and on their own artistic quality, which will be our primar intention. The attention is focused on selected areas where the astronomers lived and worked. These areas are presented in European context. Substantial part of this work is devoted to the subjects related to the study of astronomy, such as astronomical instruments in the field of applied art and in the scientific publications which are carying their own graphic work in the form of graphic attachments. This issue is conceived in conjunction with personalities and social enviroment of Rudolf's II. the imperial court.
